Back in the early 1980s, my brother and I were the only two people in Erie, Pennsylvania to like the arcade game Space Zap. I have always wished that they did a translation to that game for the Atari 2600, but when only two people out of a population of 100,000 would buy a game, that's not exactly a good business decision. (Let's just forget about E.T. for a moment, shall we?)

So I did my own "sucky Space Zap redux". Here is a screenshot.

The original was so good (!?!), there was a sequel that was much more difficult to play and was more suited for a tournament type competition, appropriately entitled "Vault Assault: Tournament Edition". I think the sequel is much better than the original, but you can judge for yourself by trying out the binaries in your favorite emulator, or perhaps by getting cartridges to play on your 2600.

How to obtain a cartridge

There are currently 2 ways that you can obtain a cartridge to play the game on your actual Atari hardware instead of in an emulator on your computer.

  • Click here to purchase one from Atari Age
  • Use the feedback link on the left and contact me about the possibility of getting one of the few hand made cartridges I have left
